A new breed of managers in the developing nations must be able to initiate change and persuade departure from the established norms in managing the affairs of the state and industry.
The Centre for Development Management Studies (CEDEMA) is dedicated to promoting a more effective management training system which recognises diversity, and actively encourages social and cultural awareness in an environment where independent thinking, creativity, integrity and equal opportunity are supported.
We believe many management successes and failures in the globalised world could be traced back to a particular manager’s degree of social and cultural awareness and responsiveness – something that is frequently recognised as a leadership talent and gift of the manager, rather than a requirement for the job.
This is precisely the environment where a new mindset and approach are required.
CEDEMAS aims to institutionalise such abilities within the management training process and achieve this through a situational learning system with professional and practical focus – a blend of academic learning, culture-focused coaching and apprenticeship.
